Gran Hotel Balneario Blancafort Thermal Spa **** is located in La Garriga, Catalonia (Spain).

La Garriga is well known for its natural thermal waters and the modernist buildings that you can find there such as Casa Barbey and La Torre Iris built by Joaquim Raspall.

THE GRAN HOTEL BALNEARIO BLANCAFORT THERMAL SPA ****

Joan Blancafort Llavina founded ‘The Baths Establishment’ in 1840.

It was a place for those who wanted to take a natural thermal water bath or to get treatment. Also, the hotel was a meeting point for the aristocracy as well as for artists, writers and politicians from Barcelona in that period of time.

Nowadays, the hotel is situated in a residential complex in La Garriga and it is surrounded by beautiful modernist architecture which you will enjoy if you decide to go for a walk to discover this Catalan town.

HOW TO GET TO THE GRAN HOTEL BALNEARIO BLANCAFORT THERMAL SPA ****

There are several ways to get there.

• By train from Barcelona, that takes 30 minutes.
• By taxi from Barcelona’s airport.
• By car from Barcelona. Depending on what route you take, the trip is longer.
• By car from Girona – France.
• By car from Tarragona.

The hotel has a service called Hotel transfer, that helps you with your transfer to the Hotel Balneario Blancafort. (You have to contact them in advance.)

THE SPA

The visitors have different options.

The first option is for those who want a relaxing time without any special treatment or massages.

The Blancafort Thermal Centre has two thermal circuits.

1. The Templarium is inspired by a Roman thermal bath with three pools called Tepidarium, Frigidarium and Caldarium.
2. The Natatorium is a pool that offers hydrotherapy thermal treatments.

You can also enjoy the sensory showers and the waterbeds.

The second option is for those who want a relaxing time with individual treatments or massages.

It is important to remind you that the services offered at this point have to be booked in advance.

There are two zones, the Oriental and the Zahir, which are the most exclusive areas of the Spa. You will get spa treatments with a professional such as massages, body and face treatments amongst others.

I am pretty sure that you will leave the room, feeling that you are a new person.

In addition, the Spa facilities include a fitness room and two outdoor pools with varying temperatures.

THE RESTAURANTS

There are three restaurants in the complex. Each one offers the visitors something different every day.  

D’Ors Gourmet restaurant

D’Ors Gourmet restaurant opens its doors from 8 am until 10:30 am. It offers a buffet breakfast, where you will find different types of delicious fruit, pastry, ham, juices, and dietetic products.

The price for those who are not hosted in the hotel is 15 euros.

The Olivo restaurant

The Olivo is the main restaurant of the hotel and it opens for lunch from 13:30 pm to 15:30 pm and for dinner from 20:30 pm to 22:30 pm. Visitors, who love gourmet, will love The Olivo because the dishes are simply lovely and well presented.

Advance booking is required and it is also open for those who are not hosted in the hotel.

El Raconet

El Raconet opens only during summer. It is located in the garden of the hotel and if you want to have a drink before or after dinner, just go there. The atmosphere is magic and delightful.
