Eating in front of the cathedral of Barcelona: Estruch

If you are visiting Barcelona or just heading to one of the most emblematic squares in town make sure you stop by Estruch for a nice tapa, coffee and so much more! Avoid tourist traps and enjoy proper yummy food!

Believe me, when I say that you are going to have a good time there, I’ve eaten in the Estruch more than once and I simply love it.

The Estruch exists since the 19th century and it is a café and restaurant located in front of the Cathedral in the Gothic neighbourhood: Avenida de la Catedral, 3, 08002 Barcelona.

It is a small but nice and cosy restaurant where you can have lunch with your friends, partner or family. However, it also offers breakfasts, dinners and lots of tapas and montaditos from Monday to Saturday, from 7 am- 12 am. But if you only want to have a coffee or just drink something such as a glass of wine or a beer, you are more than welcome!

The restaurant has a beautiful terrace, from where you can see the characterful Barcelona’s Gothic monument and in summer season it’s fantastic! But if you go during winter don’t worry about the cold, hopefully, there are heaters outside, so you can enjoy the views in winter as well! If you prefer being inside, there are tables and also a bar area for you to seat.

I love the fact that employees are very friendly and, of course, that the dishes are just, mmm, DELICIOUS! I strongly recommend the classic hamburger (10,90 €) accompanied by sweet onion, chips and grilled vegetables. But there is not only meat; the Estruch offers tasty salads, pizzas, pasta and homemade desserts among others.

As a tourist myself, I know for sure that eating or drinking something in front of a monument or the main square of the city, means that prices are usually high. However, the Estruch is not so expensive having in mind where it is situated.

So, if you have the opportunity to come to Barcelona and you want to take a breath and drink or eat something go to the Estruch, a café and restaurant in front of one of the most emblematic buildings in Barcelona.
